Colts' Irsay to Bring One-Night-Only Concert and Traveling Museum to Los Angeles

Public invited to free event at the Shrine Auditorium on Jan. 11, 2024

The Jim Irsay Collection

LOS ANGELES (November 14, 2023)Jim Irsay, Owner & CEO of the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts, will bring The Jim Irsay Collection—a traveling museum of iconic artifacts from rock music, American history and pop culture—to Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium for a one-of-a-kind free exhibition and concert on Thurs.,Jan. 11, 2024.

An active philanthropist, Irsay transformed his collection into a “traveling museum” and has hosted previous exhibitions in Nashville, Tenn., Austin, Tex., Washington, DC, New York City, Chicago, Indianapolis,San Francisco, Las Vegas and Boston.

The Los Angeles event is free and open to the public with advance registration at jimirsaycollection.com.

When: Thursday, January 11, 2024, 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.

Where: Shrine Auditorium, 649 W. Jefferson Blvd., Los Angeles

Notes:

  • The event is free, but guests may donate to Kicking The Stigma, an initiative to raise awareness about mental health, when they register.
  • Capacity is limited and spots will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.

In addition to the exhibits, the evening will feature a free concert by The Jim Irsay Band, an all-star band featuring some of the world’s most accomplished musicians:

  • Billy Branch, harmonica (three-time Grammy®nominee)
  • Tom Bukovac, guitar (played on more than 700 albums with major artists)
  • Mike Mills, bass & vocals (founding member of R.E.M., Rock & Roll Hall of Fame)
  • Danny Nucci, guitar, saxophone & vocals (actor, Titanic, The Rock)
  • Michael Ramos, keyboards (Mellencamp, Patti Griffin, Paul Simon)
  • Carmella Ramsey, violin, mandolin & vocals (Reba McEntire, John Hiatt, Olivia Newton-John)
  • Kenny Wayne Shepherd, guitar & vocals (five-time Grammy® nominee)
  • Mike Wanchic, guitar (Mellencamp).

What’s more, special guest performers for Los Angeles’ show will be announced soon.  

Guest performers at past shows have included Rock & Roll Hall of Famers John Mellencamp, Steven Stills (Crosby, Stills & Nash), Buddy Guy, Ann Wilson (Heart), John Fogerty (Creedence Clearwater Revival) and Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), as well as Kevin Cronin (REO Speedwagon), Natalie Merchant (formerly of 10,000 Maniacs), country music superstar Vince Gill, nine-time Grammy®nominee John Hiatt, four-time Grammy® nominee Robert Randolph and Peter Wolf (J.Geils Band).

“I started this collection and tour to bring people from all walks of life together to celebrate our shared history and culture and spread positive messages of unity and inspiration throughout this country and world,” Irsay said. “We’re excited to return to Los Angeles, the home of so much music energy and entertainment history.”

The collection is highlighted by instruments and items owned and used by the greatest artists in music history, including Bob Dylan, The Beatles, James Brown, Prince, Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Elton John, Johnny Cash, Jerry Garcia, Les Paul, David Gilmour, Miles Davis, Jim Morrison, Eddie Van Halen, Pete Townshend, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, John Coltrane, The Edge and other icons, as well as signed photos, handwritten lyrics, and other historic music memorabilia. In 2022, Guitar Magazine highlighted his collection of guitars as “The Greatest Guitar Collection on Earth.”

Outside of music, the collection includes signed Presidential documents and artifacts, important original documents from American history and other unique artifacts, such as an 1823 printing of the Declaration of Independence, an original “Wanted” poster for John Wilkes Booth, the original manuscript for Alcoholics Anonymous’ Big Book, a 1953 Jackie Robinson bat, Muhammad Ali’s title belt from the 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle,” Jack Kerouac’s original typewritten manuscript for On The Road, Secretariat’s saddle from its historic 1973 Triple Crown wins, and much more.

Irsay regularly loans artifacts to museums, nonprofits and other organizations for display and research around the world, including the U.S.’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, The Metropolitan Museum of Art (The Met), The Lincoln Memorial, the world-famous Beverly Hills Hotel and the Indiana State Museum; as well as at The Centre Pompidou (Paris), the British Library (London), Auditorium Parcodella Musica (Rome) and other locations around the world.
